About Boba Crash
Our family loves everything about Boba! For years we’ve enjoyed Trying different Boba tea shops with our children, and although there were a few shops with great ingredients, we always felt something was missing… A fun and family friendly environment. We realized that Boba tastes better while sitting and building community with friends and family! This is where our desire and vision to open Boba Crash began.
As Boba Tea Connoisseurs, we know that ingredients matter. We’ve spent countless hours researching teas, Boba and many other ingredients in order to create a high-quality and refreshing beverage.
Crash
Boba Crash was named after the eighth member of our family, our dog Crash. Unfortunately, he passed away unexpectedly in April 2022 and it was important to our children to honor his memory in a bold and meaningful way.
Brief History of Boba
This sweet and refreshing beverage can be traced back to Taichung City in Taiwan in the 1980s. It was first created by Liu Han Chieh, who combined milk tea with black tapioca balls. The drink became popular with students, who would buy it from street vendors for breakfast or a snack. Milk tea was already well-known in Taiwan, also known as “black pearl tea” or “bubble tea”, drinking is a robust practice in East Asia and now the United States. Both shaved ice and tapioca balls were considered common desserts at the time, some black and some white, made from tapioca to fruit jellies. At some point, someone thought to combine three popular elements into one beverage—tapioca balls on the bottom, followed by a layer of shaved ice, and milk tea to fill out the rest of the drink. With the rise of social media platforms, boba tea has become more popular than ever.
